Profitable Blogging Niches | Do What You Love
FIND YOUR BLOGGING NICHE
WHAT ARE THE MOST PROFITABLE BLOGGING NICHES?
If you’re thinking about starting a blog, you have probably been scouring Pinterest looking for the “Top 10 Blogging Niches”. You’re worried that you’ll pick the “wrong one”, and it will cause your blog to fail. NOT TRUE!!!
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Please see our Affiliate Disclosure Page for detailed information.
The reality is that while some niches are statistically more profitable than others, you’ll do best blogging about what YOU love. It’s your unique voice, your effort, and your ability to convey your perspective that will determine your success.
BLOG ABOUT YOUR PASSIONS
ANY blog niche can become profitable. Blogs with a narrow focus can make money quickly. I started Mr and Mrs Math, and was able to monetize within one month of purchasing my domain. My focus is on math strategies for teachers, parents and students. Math is definitely NOT the most popular niche in blogdom, yet I found a loyal following.
I also like Lifestyle Blogs, because it encompasses every niche. It allows you the flexibility to talk about the different parts of you. Because, let’s face it, humans are complex and multi-faceted and have multiple interests. This blog, Mrs Math | The Sum of Me was created to express the things that are most important to me, and have shaped me.
My son has special needs, and his therapies have taken over my schedule. I talk about finding balance in his life and mine. I am a Survivor of Domestic Violence.
My journey to emotional and financial freedom was long and difficult. I talk about my story, and what has helped me. Most of my life my family has lived on one income, sometimes less than $30,000/year for a family of 3. I discuss ways to save money.
POSSIBILITIES with NICHES
Maybe you’re a single teen mom who is trying to finish high school, save money on everything from diapers to cell phone plans, has an EBT (food stamps) card, and is trying to make extra money blogging. As a teenager, you know what your peers are interested in. You’re regularly on Instagram and Snapchat, and you already have a lot of followers. You realize you qualify for a discounted Amazon Prime account for EBT cardholders, so you share that deal with visitors who also have an EBT card. You use PicMonkey to create graphics or edit photos to market on Pinterest, so you talk about that in your Blogging Category.
ANY NICHE CAN BE PROFITABLE
While this example might not be anything like you and your life, the point is that ANY niche or interest can be profitable. More importantly, blogging about what you love will keep you engaged and enthusiastic. Most blogs fail, because the person gives up, usually within just three months. If you are passionate about your subject, it is much easier to find topics to talk about, or products you have tried and love.
FINANCIAL COST
Not sure if you’re ready? Afraid of the cost? My first domain cost me only $12/YEAR. Yes, you read that right, just $1 per month. I used 1and1 hosting, and I have been incredibly pleased with it. I didn’t know how long it would take for my blog to be profitable, so I didn’t want to commit to the pricier companies. However, I HAVE NOT sacrificed quality with 1and1.com. EVERY SINGLE TIME I called Customer Service, my issue has been resolved. I couldn’t be happier.
My only other expense has been PicMonkey. This is the easiest photo editor on the market. I spent less than $72 for the whole year. It is an abosolute necessity to create your own pin and market your blog on Pinterest. Plus, visitors are visual, and will be attracted to high quality graphics and photos. Read here to see what I was able to create with PicMonkey.
START NOW TO BLOG WHAT YOU LOVE
If you’re procrastinating and living in self-doubt, just stop. You can do it. I believe you can. Don’t look back six months from now wishing you had. Some blogs experience tremendous growth, and are making five-figure incomes by then! So go after your dream, and just do it!
Mrs Math
Thanks for the great encouragement to blog about what I love! I’m an interior design blogger, but I’m contemplating opening it up to more of the lifestyle blog… but not sure yet.
I love the idea of an interior designer blog And your website “JessicaWellingInteriors” perfectly fits that niche. If you’re concerned about monetizing, I think you’re in a perfect industry. I have found so many organizational supplies on Amazon, and you could join Amazon Associates. Watch their rules though. It’s easy to get denied, because they are very specific on what you can do. Even if you can’t get affiliate relationships with every company you purchase from, people love to know where you bought items. Best wishes for you on your venture. Don’t forget it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Slow and steady wins the race.
