Simply put, it means that your website name and icon are displayed underneath the pin. This is important for Pinterest to take your pin, and your business, seriously.

First You Need a Business Account
First of all, you must have a business account on Pinterest. For that, you just create a business name. While it’s beneficial to have a specific business name, it’s ok for you to just use your name. This is common practice for many bloggers.
Go to your Settings, which can be found when you click on the 3 horizontal dots in the upper right hand corner. Enter your business name. Be sure to hit the “Save Settings” button.
How Do You Apply for Rich Pins?
STEP 1: Install the “Yoast SEO” WordPress Plugin
To install any plugin, log into your website’s administrator account.
Already have “Yoast SEO”? Skip to Step 2.
Haven’t purchased a domain yet? Look into 1and1 hosting. My first domain cost only $12 for the year. Use my link. Bonus, you receive a free security certificate (SSL) that can cost you up to $70.
Not sure what niche is most profitable? I firmly believe that you should blog about your passions. Read my article aboutDoing What You Loveto find out more.
Back to Installing “Yoast SEO”. Here’s the format to log into your WordPress admin account: website name, period, “/”, “wp-admin/”. On the lefthand side, you’ll see “Plugins”. If you hover over that, “Add New” pops up in the menu. Click on that. Scroll down a little, and on the righthand side of your screen, you’ll see “Search Plugins”. Type in “Yoast SEO”, and click on the purple icon created by “Team Yoast”. Install and Activate that. (By the way, Yoast is a blogging necessity, and helps with Search Engine Optimization.)
STEP 2: Use Pinterest’s Rich Pin Validator
Go directly to Pinterest’s Developer’s Page. Scroll to the bottom of the page to the Validator. You’ll see a spot to add a url. Copy and Paste any blog post url (not the homepage), and click the “Validate” button. You don’t have to do this for every blog post you want Rich Pins attributed to. Once you do it for one url (and it’s confirmed through Pinterest) you then have Rich Pins for your whole site.
STEP 3: Apply (Click the Button TWICE)
After clicking the “Validate” button, you’ll see a pop-up message: “your pin’s been validated”. Click “Apply Now”. Another message will pop up with your website’s domain and “HTML tags” selected (the circle in front of it is filled in). Once again, click “Apply Now”. That’s it!
Did it work?
Now, you will need to wait a few days to receive a notification from Pinterest that they have approved your application. Not sure that it worked? Log into your Pinterest account. In the upper lefthand corner you’ll see “Analytics”. Click that menu, and then click again on “Overview”. You should see a line of charts that shows “Your Pinterest profile” and “People you reach”. Under that is a section titled “Top Pin impressions”. Look at the pins listed, and see if you can find a description under “Pin type”. You’re looking for a little “R” icon, which means that this is a Rich Pin.
Still don’t see one? Save a pin from your website to one of your boards. Check back in “Analytics” to see if that pin is listed, and has that “R” icon. You might have to wait a few days for this.
